Ad Legend Della Femina on the End of Creative Revolution & Misuse of Celebs

Co-host Brad Forsythe interviews Jerry Della Femina, Chairman/Creative Director of Della Femina, Rothschild, Jeary and Partners.  Jerry Della Femina was recently named by Advertising Age as one of the 100 Most Influential Advertising People of the Century.Trading the title employee for employer, Jerry co-founded Della Femina Travisano & Partners in 1967.  Over time, the agency became one of the top 20 agencies in the U.S. with billings over $800 million and produced some of the most successful advertising running during the “advertising creative revolution.” This advertising built such successful brands such as Beck’s Beer, Ralston Purina’s Meow Mix, Isuzu, Dow Bathroom Cleaner and Blue Nun Wine. In early 1998, Mr. Della Femina partnered with Michael Jeary and named his agency Della Femina/Jeary and Partners. Its client roster includes such notables as Coty Inc., AT&T Wireless, Purdue Pharma, Carvel, and AARP’s Modern Maturity and My Generation magazines to name a few. May 2000 saw the addition of the name Rothschild to the masthead in recognition of Diane Rothschild, president and creative director of Grace & Rothschild, merging with DF/J. Mr. Della Femina has written two books, From Those Wonderful Folks Who Gave You Pearl Harbor (a best-seller), and An Italian Grows in Brooklyn (a non-seller).
